Automated dispensing cabinets
Automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) are computerized drug storage devices
or cabinets that allow medications to be stored and dispensed near the point of
care, while controlling and tracking drug distribution. They also are called unitbased
cabinets (UBCs), automated dispensing devices (ADDs), automated
distribution cabinets or automated dispensing machines (ADMs).
Reaction:
use of adc has advantages and disadvantage,it's advantages are it improves nursing productivity, it improves pharmacy productivity, it improves charge captures and enhance patient's quality and safety while it's disadvantage is it has a risk of choosing the wrong medications from an alphabetic pick list, wrong storage of medication with look alike names or packaging. somehow it's efficiency has disadvantage. but it still help in improving many things :))
